Registering a network creates a virtual counterpart to your physical Wi-SUN network in Remote Manager. The wizard walks you through three steps: defining the network name and protocol, assigning XBee Hive for Wi-SUN border routers, and configuring security settings.
You only need to complete the first step to create the network. Border routers and security settings can be configured later from the network page.
Create a network
To register a new Wi-SUN network in Remote Manager:
-
Log in to Remote Manager.
-
In the left navigation, click XBee Networks.
-
Click Create. The wizard opens at the Details step.
-
Fill in the network details:
-
In Name, enter a name for the network.
-
In Protocol, select Wi-SUN.
The Protocol cannot be changed after the network is created. -
If sub-accounts exist, select the account in Account you are creating the network for.
-
-
Click Save and continue. Remote Manager creates the network and opens the Gateways/Border Routers step.
-
(Optional) Add XBee Hive for Wi-SUN border routers to the network:
-
Select the border routers from the list.
-
Click Save and continue or click Skip if you want to add border routers later from the network page.
When you add the first border router to a network, Remote Manager reads its Wi-SUN parameters (channel plan ID, PHY mode ID, network name, and authentication method) and stores them as the reference for the network.
All subsequent border routers must match these parameters.
-
-
(Optional) Configure security settings for the network:
-
Set Authorization to Open or Allow-List.
-
If using Allow-List, add allow-list entries now or later from the Security tab.
-
Click Save and Finish or click Skip if you want to configure security later.
-
When the wizard finishes, Remote Manager opens the XBee Network page of the newly created network. See Access your Wi-SUN networks.
