The physical (PHY) layer refers to the layer in the network closest to a physical connection between devices, allowing them to communicate with the medium access control (MAC) layer above them. This is done via either frequency-shift keying (FSK) or orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation.
For XBee for Wi-SUN devices, the PHY layer is configured via the following AT commands:
Interdependencies
The R? (Region Code), WC (Channel Plan), and WM (PHY Mode) parameters are dependent on one another. For a given R? value, only certain values are allowed for WC and WM. Four regulatory regions are currently available:
| R? | Short name | Long name |
|---|---|---|
0x01 |
NA |
North America |
0x02 |
JP |
Japan |
0x03 |
EU_LB |
Europe low band |
0x05 |
IN |
India |
Valid combinations are listed below, by applicable region, but can also be found when using XBee Studio to configure the XBee for Wi-SUN.
If an invalid combination of WC and WM is configured on the device, the following modem statuses will be sent out:
-
0x61: indicates the combination is invalid.
-
0x50: indicates the module is disconnected from the network.
The module will remain disconnected from the network until a valid combination of WC and WM is entered.
