Up to this point, you have configured and explored your Wi-SUN network locally. The next step is to bring your solution to the cloud by connecting it to Digi Remote Manager.

Remote Manager is the central place to monitor and operate your Wi-SUN devices remotely. Once you register the XBee Hive for Wi-SUN, every XBee for Wi-SUN node connected through it also becomes individually manageable from the cloud.

With your devices in Remote Manager, you can:

  • Configure them remotely: Update device settings without physical access.

  • Update their firmware:: Push new firmware versions to devices in the field.

  • Access their console: Open a secure shell session on the XBee Hive for Wi-SUN operating system.

  • Access their file system: Browse, upload, or retrieve files stored on the XBee Hive for Wi-SUN.

  • Monitor their status, create alerts, and automations: Track device status and trigger actions based on events or conditions.

For more details on managing your devices and networks from the cloud, see Use Digi Remote Manager.

The Wi-SUN Development Kit also includes an XBee Global Connect SIM card and a cellular data plan. In the third part of this exercise, you activate the SIM card and confirm that an XBee Hive for Wi-SUN can reach Remote Manager over cellular.
