Radio firmware is program code stored in an XBee device’s persistent memory that provides the control program for the device. Digi periodically releases new radio firmware versions to improve functionality or fix bugs, which are automatically downloaded by XBee Studio.

XBee profiles
An XBee profile is a snapshot of a specific radio firmware configuration, including firmware, setting values, file system and other configuration information. Profiles can be used later in XBee Studio or other Digi RF applications.
XBee Studio allows you to create, inspect and apply configuration profiles to XBee devices. This feature is useful in a production environment when you need to set the same parameters on multiple devices.
