The first big difference between XCTU and XBee Studio is how XBee devices are discovered and added to the tool. While in XCTU you have to manually discover devices by specifying a set of serial port configurations, XBee Studio automatically discovers all your XBee devices connected to the computer when it starts or whenever the device browser area is displayed or whenever a device is plugged or unplugged from the PC.

Discovered devices are also displayed in a different way. XCTU shows them on the left Radio Modules list, while XBee Studio simplifies the process by including a device browser and allowing you to display the devices in different views: graphical and table.

XBee Studio also allows you to work with XBee devices connected to your Digi Remote Manager® account and located anywhere the same way as if they were physically connected to your computer.

For more information about the device browser, see Device browser.
