Digi IoT Device Simulator currently has the following known issues and limitations:

  • Data streams:

    • Simulated devices do not support uploading binary data points.

  • Device requests:

    • Simulated devices do not support responding to a device request with a status of error, only success (0).

  • File system:

    • offset and length attributes are not supported when retrieving a file from a simulated device using the SCI get_file command.

    • offset and truncate attributes are not supported when pushing a new file to a simulated device using the SCI put_file command.

  • Simulated devices do not support Remote Command Interface (RCI).

  • As a consequence of RCI not being supported, the modem update of XBee 3 Cellular devices does not work, so the firmware update in simulated devices of the following types will always fail:

    • XBee3 Cellular LTE-M/NB-IoT Global

    • XBee3 Cellular LTE Cat 1 Verizon

    • XBee3 Cellular LTE Cat 1 AT&T

  • The maximum number of simulated devices is 200. To increase this limit, contact your Digi Sales Representative.
