Step 2: Wire a power supply to the Z45 Controller and power the device
An external power supply must be wired to the device and plugged into a main power supply. You can supply your own power supply or purchase one from Digi.
Note Some Z45 Controller SKUs come with a power supply: a female barrel connector pigtail kit (PN 76002127) or a DIN mount power supply (PN 760002129). The female barrel connector pigtail provides an interface to power supplies equipped with a male barrel connector.
For information about wiring the barrel connector pigtail power supply, see Power the Z45 Controller using a barrel connector pigtail.
LPS (Limited power source) power supply required
-
Use a UL listed power supply with an LPS output, rating of 9-24 V DC with 12 Watts output minimum.
-
As an alternate – Listed/CN, ITE Power Supply, input rated 100-240 V AC, 0.33 A minimum; output rated 9-24 V DC, 0.5 A minimum.
-
Unit must be marked “LPS.”
-
Power supply shall be suitable for the ambient temperature where device is installed.
Tools needed
You will need a flat head terminal block screwdriver to loosen and tighten the pins.
Note If you wire the power supply in backwards you will not harm the device. The Z45 Controller simply will not power on when plugged into the main power.
-
Orient the Z45 Controller so the front of the device is facing you.
-
Unplug and remove the lower Phoenix connector from the device.
-
Connect the wires of the power supply to the Z45 Controller.
-
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen the screws for Pin 1 and Pin 2.
-
Connect the negative wire to Pin 1 (negative terminal).
-
Connect the positive wire to Pin 2 (positive terminal).
-
Tighten the screws for Pin 1 and Pin 2.
-
-
Plug the lower Phoenix connector back into the Z45 Controller.
-
Plug the other end of the power supply into a main power supply.
NEXT STEP: Proceed to Step 3: Optional: Insert a second SIM card into the Z45 Controller.
