Power the Z45 Controller using a barrel connector pigtail

The power supply is connected to the Z45 Controller by wiring a female barrel connector pigtail to the device, and then connecting the power supply to the pigtail.

Note Some Z45 Controller SKUs come with a power supply kit (PN 76002127) that includes a female barrel connector pigtail and a power supply. The female barrel connector pigtail provides an interface to power supplies equipped with a male barrel connector. If yours does not, you can purchase this power supply kit from www.digi.com.

Tools needed

You will need a flat head terminal block screwdriver to loosen and tighten the pins.

Note If you wire the barrel connector pigtail in backwards you will not harm the device. The Z45 Controller simply will not power on when plugged into the main power.

  1. Orient the Z45 Controller so the front of the device is facing you.

  2. Unplug and remove the lower Phoenix connector from the device.

  3. Connect the wires of the barrel connector pigtail to the Z45 Controller.

    1. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen the screws for Pin 1 and Pin 2.

    2. Connect the negative wire to Pin 1 (negative terminal).

    3. Connect the positive wire to Pin 2 (positive terminal).

    4. Tighten the screws for Pin 1 and Pin 2.

  4. Plug the lower Phoenix connector back into the Z45 Controller.

  5. Plug the power supply into the barrel connector pigtail wired to the Z45 Controller.

  6. Plug the other end of the power supply into a main power supply.
