Configure an email server for the device profile

Before you can send an application log to a device profile notifications group, you must also configure the email server that you want to use to send emails.

You can choose one of the following configuration options:

Auto-configure the Digi Axess email server

  1. Log into the Z45 Controller's web UI.

  2. Click Admin Main.

  3. In the Options section, click Device Profile. The Device Profile page displays.

  4. Scroll down to the Email Configuration section.

  5. From the Mail Server list box, select Auto-Configure. This is the default.

  6. Click Update to configure the Digi Axess email server.

Configure your organization's email server in the device profile

  1. Log into the Z45 Controller's web UI.

  2. Click Admin Main.

  3. In the Options section, click Device Profile. The Device Profile page displays.

  4. Scroll down to the Email Configuration section.

  5. From the Mail Server list box, select Define Below.

  6. Configure the mail server using the fields in the Email Configuration section. For more information, refer to the table below.

  7. Click Update to save the changes.

Field Description

Email Address

Enter the email address that you want to use as the sender. This must be a valid email that has been configured for use on your server.

Username and Password

Enter the email server's log in credentials. These are used if you enable the Authentication option, which is enabled by default.

SMTP Address

Enter the server's SMTP address.

SMTP Port

Enter the SMTP port used by the server for communication.

Authentication

Determine whether you want to use the Authentication feature on the email server.

  • Enabled: Enable authentication. Server traffic from this device is authenticated. This is the default and Digi recommends that you choose Enable.

  • Disabled: Disable authentication. Server traffic from this device is not authenticated.

SSL Encryption

Determine whether you want to use SSL Encryption.

  • Enabled: Enable SSL encryption. This is the default.

  • Disabled: Disable SSL encryption.
