  • Verify network connectivity – Confirm the Digi device has a stable internet connection to download the firmware update.

  • Modem model – If you are not planning to use Digi Remote Manager to perform this modem firmware update remotely, you will need to know the model of the modem that is in or attached to your Digi device in order to download the proper modem firmware and perform the update locally.

  • Review firmware and software changes – To see the latest news and to understand the changes, improvements, and potential impacts of those changes:

    • For DAL OS, see the What's New topic in the user guide for your specific Digi device.

For Remote Manager, see What's New.

  • Backup the DAL OS device configuration – Save your current device configuration in case you need to restore settings after the update.

  • Schedule downtime – Plan the update at a time that minimizes disruption, as the device may reboot during the process.

  • Power and battery backup – Ensure the device has a reliable power source to prevent interruptions during the update.

  • User access and permissions – Verify you have the necessary administrative access to perform the update via the DAL OS web UI or Remote Manager.
