IX40 GNSS antenna
A GNSS antenna receives and amplifies GNSS satellite signals and, along with a receiver, makes it possible to geo-locate your IX40 router. If you want to use the location service, you must connect a GNSS antenna.
The IX40 router supports two types of antennas: active or passive.
-
Active GNSS antenna - An active GNSS antenna includes an on-board low noise amplifier, which needs power. The IX40 will provide a 3V DC voltage to power the low-noise amplifier in the active antenna, which helps compensate for cable loss.
-
Passive GNSS antenna - A passive GNSS antenna does not include any amplifier and does not need power.
The GNSS antenna is connected to the WWAN1 modem because this modem controls both cellular connectivity and geo-location capabilities. If you are going to use a GNSS antenna, you need to specify its type as either Active or Passive in the Modem settings for WWAN1 (Config > Network > Modems > WWAN1 cellular modem > GNSS antenna).
To configure location service on your device, see Configure the location service using GNSS.
