Enable router mode

By default, the EX15-PR device is configured to operate in passthrough mode, which means that the device passes the IP address assigned to it via DHCP on its WAN and cellular modem interface, to a client connected to its LAN interface. See Review EX15-PR default settings for more information about the device's default settings.

Alternatively, the device can be configured to operate in router mode, where the LAN interface has a DHCP server that can provide IP addresses to multiple connected clients.

To configure the EX15-PR device to operate in router mode:


  1. Log into Digi Remote Manager, or log into the local Web UI as a user with full Admin access rights.
  2. Access the device configuration:

    1. Locate your device as described in Use Digi Remote Manager to view and manage your device.
    2. Click the Device ID.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click to expand Config.

    1. On the menu, click System. Under Configuration, click Device Configuration.

      The Configuration window is displayed.

  3. Click Network > Interfaces > LAN.
  4. For Interface type, select Ethernet.
  5. (Optional) Set the IP address for the LAN. By default, the IP address is 192.168.2.1/24.
    1. Click to expand IPv4.
    2. For Address, type the IP address you wish to assign to the device for its LAN DHCP network (that is, the gateway IP for the DHCP network).
  6. Click Apply to save the configuration and apply the change.
  1. Select the device in Remote Manager and click Actions > Open Console, or log into the EX15-PR local command line as a user with full Admin access rights.

    Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection menu. Type admin to access the Admin CLI.

  2. At the command line, type config to enter configuration mode:
    > config
(config)>
  3. Set the interface type to Ethernet:
    (config)> network interface lan type ethernet
(config)>
  4. (Optional) Set the IP address and netmask:
    (config)> network interface lan ipv4 address ipv4_address/netmask
(config)>
  5. Save the configuration and apply the change
    (config)> save
Configuration saved.

  6. Type exit to exit the Admin CLI.

    Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection menu. Type quit to disconnect from the device.
