Required configuration items
- Whether the Input/Output pin should be handled as active low or active high.
- The bias on the pin to enable pull-up/pull-down.
- The direction of the pin, either Input or Output.
- For Digital I/O 1 only:
- The debounce period in miliseconds.
- The default state, either On or Off.
Additional configuration items
- A label for the Input/Output pin.
Web
- Log into Digi Remote Manager, or log into the local Web UI as a user with full Admin access rights.
- Access the device configuration:
Remote Manager:
- Locate your device as described in Use Digi Remote Manager to view and manage your device.
- Click the Device ID.
- Click Settings.
- Click to expand Config.
Local Web UI:- On the menu, click System. Under Configuration, click Device Configuration.
The Configuration window is displayed.
- Click I/O > Digital I/Os.
- Click to expand Digital I/O 1.
- (Optional) For Label, enter a label for the I/O pin.
- Click to enable Active low to configure the pin to be handled as active low. Active low is disabled by default, meaning that the pin will be handled active high.
- Bias is set to Pull-up by default. Select Disabled to configure the pin for pull-down instead.
- For Direction, select either Input or Output.
- If Direction is set to Output, set the Default state to either On or Off. On is the default.
- Click Power supply enable to configure the DIO1 pin as a power supply.
- Repeat for additional Digital I/0 pins.
- Click Apply to save the configuration and apply the change.
Command line
- Select the device in Remote Manager and click Actions > Open Console, or log into the Connect EZ 8 local command line as a user with full Admin access rights.
Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection menu. Type admin to access the Admin CLI.
- At the command line, type config to enter configuration mode:

- (Optional) Set a label for Digital I/O pin 1:
(config)> io digital dio1 label label (config)>
- Enable active_low to configure the pin to be handled as active low.
(config)> io digital dio1 active_low true (config)>
active_low is disabled by default, meaning that the pin will be handled active high.
- bias is set to pullup by default. To configure the pin for pull-down:
(config)> io digital dio1 bias disable (config)>
- direction is set to input by default. To configure it for output:
(config)> io digital dio1 direction output (config)>
- If direction is set to output, set the default state:
(config)> io digital dio1 default_state value (config)>
where value is either on or off. The default is on.
- If direction is set to output, set the default state:
- power_supply_en is disabled by default. To enable it:
(config)> io digital dio1 power_supply_en true (config)>
- Repeat for additional Digital I/0 pins.
- Save the configuration and apply the change.
(config)> save Configuration saved. > - Type exit to exit the Admin CLI.
Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection menu. Type quit to disconnect from the device.
