Analog input port sensor calibration

Note Calibrating the Connect EZ 8 analog input port sensor is not required. However, we realize that the equipment you are connecting may have calibration requirements so we provide a way to do so in the UI and CLI. Digi strongly recommends that you refer to the manufacturer's documentation for the equipment being connected to the Connect EZ 8 to see if it has calibration requirements.

Calibration is the process of comparing the readings of an analog input port sensor to known high and low standard values, and then making necessary adjustments so that the sensor readings are within that known standard. Calibration can be helpful if you are connecting equipment to the analog input port and that equipment has specific voltage/current high and low values. Calibrating the analog input port sensors across many Connect EZ 8 devices to standard low and high values can minimize systematic errors or discrepancies between those devices and create uniformity in the current or voltage data that is collected.

 

  1. Log into the Connect EZ 8 WebUI as a user with full Admin access rights.

  2. Click System > I/O Configuration.
  3. Click to expand an analog input.

  4. Type or select the Low setpoint and click Calibrate.
  5. Type or select the High setpoint and click Calibrate.
  6. To clear the calibration, click Calibration Reset.
  7. Click Apply to save the configuration and apply the change.
  1. Select the device in Remote Manager and click Actions > Open Console, or log into the Connect EZ 8 local command line as a user with full Admin access rights.

    Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection menu. Type admin to access the Admin CLI.

  2. To calibrate the low and high ends of the analog input range for analog input ports:
    1. To calibrate the low end of the analog input range for analog input port 1 (ain1):
      > ain calibrate ain1 low int

      where int is an integer representing the voltage in mV, or the current, in uA, that is connected to the analog input.

    2. To calibrate the high end of the analog input range for analog input port 1 (ain1):
      > ain calibrate ain1 high int

      where int is an integer representing the voltage in mV, or the current in uA, that is connected to the analog input.

    3. Repeat as necessary for analog inputs ain2, ain3, and ain4.
  3. To rest the calibration:
    1. To reset the calibration for ain1:
      > ain calibration-reset ain1
  4. Type exit to exit the Admin CLI.

    Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection menu. Type quit to disconnect from the device.
