Configure Bluetooth Low Energy

To change the Bluetooth Low Energy configuration:

    Log into the IX15 WebUI as a user with full Admin access rights.

  1. On the menu, click System. Under Configuration, click Device Configuration.

    The Configuration window displays.

  2. Click Bluetooth to display the power settings.
  3. Click Enable to enable Bluetooth Low Energy.
  4. For Bluetooth Low Energy identifier, type the name for advertising.
  5. For Advertisement power level, select the output power level to use in BLE advertisements. The allowed values are:

    • -20 dBm

    • -10 dBm

    • 0 dBm

    • 8 dBm

    The default is 8 dBm.

  6. For Password, enter the BLE authentication password. This is the password for external applications to establish a BLE communication.

  7. Click CLI over Bluetooth to be able to execute CLI commands over Bluetooth.

  8. Click Apply to save the configuration and apply the change.

  1. Select the device in Remote Manager and click Actions > Open Console, or log into the IX15 local command line as a user with full Admin access rights.

    Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection menu. Type admin to access the Admin CLI.

  2. At the command line, type config to enter configuration mode:

    > config
(config)>

  3. Enable Bluetooth Low Energy:
    (config)> bluetooth enable true
  4. Set the identifier.
    (config)> bluetooth identifier <id>

    where <id> is the name for BLE advertisements.

  1. Set the advertisement power level:

    (config)> bluetooth advertisement_power <n>

    where <n> is the power level:

    • 0: -20 dBm

    • 1: -10 dBm

    • 2: 0 dBm

    • 3: 8 dBm

    The default is 3.

  1. Set the BLE communication password

    (config)> bluetooth password <ble_password>

    where <ble_password> is the password to configure.

  1. Optionally, you can enable CLI over Bluetooth.

(config)> bluetooth enable_cli true

  1. Save the configuration and apply the change:

(config)> save

  1. Type exit to exit the Admin CLI.
    Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection menu. Type quit to disconnect from the device.
