XCTU is an application that makes it easy to set up, configure, and test XBee RF modules. This tool communicates through the serial interface of your XBees and facilitates the set up and test processes. One major advantage of XCTU is that you can view a quick summary of all available parameters, their possible values, and a description for each.

You will need XCTU throughout this kit to configure your XBee modules and investigate the features they offer. Follow these steps to download and install the application:

1. Download XCTU

You can download XCTU from the following link:

2. Install XCTU

Once your download is complete, install the tool by following the steps provided in the XCTU Setup Wizard.

Once the tool is installed, you will be prompted with a "What's new" dialog. Close the dialog when you are done.

3. Install the updates

Once XCTU is loaded, you may be notified about software updates. It is very important to update XCTU to the latest available version.

When a new version of XCTU is available, a pop-up window appears in the bottom-right corner of the application. Click inside the window to proceed with the update.

You can also update the tool manually from Help > Check for XCTU updates

You need version 6.2.0 or later to work with this kit. To check your version, go to Help > About XCTU.

For further information about XCTU, go to the XCTU walkthrough.

4. Install the drivers

This step is optional. You don't need to manually install the USB drivers unless your operating system notifies you that automatic driver installation has failed.

Generally, when you connect the XBee board to your computer for the first time, the drivers are automatically installed. However, there are times when this does not occur and drivers must be installed manually.

In that case, you can download and install the USB drivers from the Digi Support Site. Choose your operating system, download the file, and follow the steps in the installation wizard.
